EKGA is on the Move!
Same EKGA. New Home. Even MORE Awesome! It's official… EKGA is on the move! But don't panic, we're not going anywhere just yet! With the Victorian Government acquiring our Roberts Road buildings to make way for the Airport Rail Link, EKGA is preparing for its next big adventure! While moving an entire gymnastics club wasn't exactly on our to-do list, we're determined to turn this unexpected twist into something pretty exciting. The good news? We've got a Plan A AND a Pl

EKGA's BIG MOVE FAQ's
ABSOLUTELY NOT!We're moving, not closing! The Government might have acquired our buildings, but they're certainly not getting rid of us that easily!EKGA is here to stay. We're simply preparing for our next chapter, hopefully in a bigger, better facility with some exciting improvements.Same EKGA, same coaches, same owners, just a new address!
Not anytime soon, so don't start packing your gym bags just yet!We will definitely be operating from our current Roberts Road location for the first half of 2027.The exact moving date will depend on town planning approvals, building permits, renovations and getting everything ready for our gymnasts. As the old TV commercial said, "It won't happen overnight, but it will happen!"And don't worry, we'll give everyone plenty of notice.
Just five minutes down the road! We're currently working towards securing a building in Keilor Park, approximately five minutes' drive from our existing location. We're already well down the track, but there are still a few hurdles to jump before everything is officially confirmed. As soon as we've got all our ducks in a row (and the paperwork signed!), we'll share the exciting news.
No changes at this stage. It's business as usual! All classes, programs, coaches and timetables will continue operating as normal at Roberts Road.We plan to keep class days and times the same as they are at Roberts Road once we first move to Keilor Park.Once we have settled into our new home, we'll look at whether any improvements or adjustments to our programs and timetable might be possible and will be adding some extra options! But for now, just keep turning up, having fun and doing gymnastics!
YES! And we're rather excited about this one!The proposed new sites have more than DOUBLE the off-street parking we currently have. After years of juggling car spaces, drop-offs and pick-ups at Roberts Road, we know this will be welcome news for our families. We're hoping to make getting in and out of EKGA a whole lot easier.Who knew car parking could be so exciting?!
That's certainly the plan! Our goal is to take everything you love about EKGA and make it even more AWESOME!The proposed buildings have higher roof clearances, which is particularly exciting for Essendon Keilor Gymnastics Academy higher-level competitive gymnasts and for EKGA Gymsports tramp kids. We're also working with an experienced venue design team to make the most of the available space and create a fantastic training environment for all our programs.More foam pits, more equipment, newer equipment. We're not just looking for somewhere to put our equipment. We're planning a new home for EKGA!
Because Victoria is building a train line to the Melbourne Airport, with a station in Roberts Road! Our two buildings in Roberts Road have been compulsorily acquired as part of the Airport Rail Link project and the proposed new station at Airport West (which they call the East Keilor station, but that's another debate). While moving wasn't on our to-do list, we're determined to turn this unexpected situation into an exciting opportunity for EKGA and our families.Sometimes life throws you a curveball. We're just going to turn it into a cartwheel!
Just like at Roberts Road, the new buildings we have both heating and cooling. This means classes take place year round, regardless of the weather.
We're doing everything we can to make sure there is as little disruption as possible.Moving an entire gymnastics club is a slightly bigger exercise than packing up a house.Unfortunately, you can't just throw a few trampolines, uneven bars, a sprung floor and a foam pit into the back of a van and call it a day! There's quite a bit of planning involved, but our aim is to make the transition as smooth as possible. We are working with the Airport Rail authority on a budget, that will hopefully see us be able to fit out the new location and have it all up and ready to go, before we close the doors at Roberts Road. It will all depend on a plan coming together, and the financial support we receive from the government in regards to relocation funding, but it is the plan! If any temporary changes are required, we'll give families plenty of notice.
Absolutely! Our intention is to take our fantastic coaches, programs and EKGA community with us.Preschool Gymnastics, Recreational Gymnastics, Trampoline, Ninja, and all our other activities will remain part of EKGA at the new location. The building might change, but the people, the owners and the philosophy behind EKGA won't.Teach Gymnastics, Make it Fun and Keep the Kids SAFE!
Don't worry, we've got a Plan A AND a Plan B (and maybe even a Plan C)!We've been very busy behind the scenes and have narrowed our search down to two fantastic options, both in Keilor Park, both approximately five minutes from our current location, and both offering significant improvements on what we have now!Naturally, Plan A is our favourite, but Plan B is a pretty impressive backup! There are still a few town planning and approval hurdles to jump, which is why we haven't started packing the trampolines just yet!The Government has reassured us that we can remain in our current buildings until we have somewhere suitable to relocate. So, while we can't tell you exactly which building will become our new home just yet, we have options, we have a plan, and we're feeling very positive about what's ahead!
Don't worry, we'll keep you in the loop! We'll share updates through email, our website and our Facebook and Instagram pages as plans progress. Once our new location is confirmed, we'll be sharing plenty of exciting details, including plans, progress photos and probably a few behind-the-scenes moments! And knowing how these things go, there will no doubt be a few entertaining stories along the way.
Nope! Absolutely nothing!Keep coming to classes, keep enjoying gymnastics and leave the town planning headaches to us!All current enrolments, classes and arrangements continue as normal. When there's something you need to know or do, we'll tell you.In the meantime, it's business as usual!
